Here are some shots of the pre-production prototype of The Area71 Slotcars‘ stunning Porsche 901 prototype, designed by famous Turkish designer, Ege Arguden.
His daunting task was to reinvent the legendary Porsche 911’s design by revisiting its past.
The aim of Porsche 901 was to go back to the roots and capture the essence of the original 911. The design process started by analyzing the original 911. Both in size and individual design elements, I tried to capture 911 in a new way. Signature design elements of 911 such as round headlights and organic body shape were necessary to achieve my goal, yet I tried to modernize these elements with subtle changes.
Like all The Area71 Slotcars, the 1:32 version is modelled as an exact scale replica of Arguden’s original design and, thanks to the advanced 3DP technology used, all the curves, undercuts, complex geometries, and flawless surfaces are perfectly reproduced with none of the compromises associated with conventional injected molded plastic production.
The Area71 Slotcars Porsche 901 concept will be manufactured as a kit with a limited run of just 300 units; all with a SW/IL Slot.it-compatible chassis. Owners are free to fit their preferred components and spec a car to their exact requirements. Taking full advantage of the 3DP manufacturing process, every body and chassis will be individually marked with matching serial numbers.
